James’ practice currently focuses on complex white collar crime and fraud investigations, anti-trust/cartel/competition investigations internal investigations, compliance advice, land and environment, employment/redundancy advice, litigation on disputes in oil and gas, constitutional, contract/commercial law, power, energy and natural resource disputes at the Energy Tribunal, Environmental & Land Court, the Employment and Labour Relations Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and mediation. James is a columnist in Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s (PCEA) quarterly magazine, The Way.

Bernard is ranked by the International Law Review (IFLR) as “Highly Regarded” Lawyer in Kenya in 2017, 2018 and 2019 with respect to M&A, project development, energy, oil and gas.

Bernard has a wide range of experience in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital market transactions, public private partnerships (PPP), energy and infrastructure projects, private equity, corporate restructuring, intellectual property, employment, general commercial contracts.

He recently advised Bandwidth and Cloud Services Group (BCS) in its sale of 267 kilometres of fibre optic cable to Safaricom Limited in a novel asset purchase transaction in the telecommunications sector in Kenya. He has also represented the owners and developers of wind, solar and geothermal projects in all aspects of conceptualization and development of their energy projects.

Peter Ng’ang’a Mwaura heads MWC’s fintech, banking and finance as well as the aviation law practice areas. Peter has a rich background in these services area having worked both in-house at KCB Bank Group and UBA Kenya Limited and in private practice at Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates.

Peter leads MWC’s fintech, banking and finance practice group in the provision of legal services in, among others, traditional and modern finance, alternative finance, project finance, impact investing and consumer protection legislation.

Peter also has significant experience in the financial technology and financial regulation practice area. He has a good grasp of the regional legal regime applicable to the ever evolving fintech industry. Peter has acted for airline operators, aircraft leasing and travel companies and various financial institutions in a variety of aviation law services. He specializes in all aspects of acquisition and financing acquisition of aircrafts, registration of interests in aircrafts and related aviation law services.
