In 2017 and 2018, James was rated as a Next Generation Lawyer, in dispute resolution by The Legal 500James is a Certified Professional Mediator (CPM) and is qualified for admission as a Certified Public Secretary (CPS). 

James’ practice currently focuses on complex white collar crime and fraud investigations, anti-trust/cartel/competition investigations internal investigations, compliance advice, land and environment, employment/redundancy advice, litigation on disputes in oil and gas, constitutional, contract/commercial law, power, energy and natural resource disputes at the Energy Tribunal, Environmental & Land Court, the Employment and Labour Relations Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and mediation. James is a columnist in Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s (PCEA) quarterly magazine, The Way.

Bernard Musyoka is ranked by the International Law Review (IFLR) as “Highly Regarded” Lawyer in Kenya in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 with respect to M&A, project development, energy, oil and gas.

Bernard has a wide range of experience in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital market transactions, public private partnerships (PPP), energy and infrastructure projects, private equity, corporate restructuring, intellectual property, employment and general commercial contracts. He has also represented the owners and developers of wind, solar and geothermal projects in all aspects of conceptualization and development of their energy projects.

Peter Ng’ang’a Mwaura heads MWC’s fintech, banking and finance as well as the aviation law practice areas. Peter has a rich background in these service areas having worked both in-house at KCB Bank Group and UBA Kenya Limited and in private practice at Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates.

Peter leads MWC’s fintech, banking and finance practice group in the provision of legal services in, among others, traditional and modern finance, alternative finance, project finance, impact investing and consumer protection legislation. Peter also has significant experience in the financial technology and financial regulation practice area. He has a good grasp of the regional legal regime applicable to the ever evolving fintech industry. In addition, Peter helps clients to comply with applicable data protection laws.

Peter has acted for airline operators, aircraft leasing and travel companies as well as various financial institutions in a variety of aviation law services. He specializes in all aspects of acquisition and financing acquisition of aircrafts, registration of interests in aircrafts and related aviation law services.

Peter is a certified public secretary and a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries.

Dennis Wamwea Muhindi is a partner at MWC Legal. Dennis has a deep background in the real estate and intellectual property service areas having worked in-house in two top tier Kenyan Banks, KCB Bank Kenya Ltd and The Cooperative Bank of Kenya Limited.

Dennis leads MWC’s real estate and intellectual property law practice in the provision of legal services in, among others, traditional real estate transactions and modern development project areas.

Dennis also has significant experience in intellectual property law having acted for both individual and corporate clients in protection of their rights.

He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and a Patent Agent.

Najmah is an associate in the Firm.

Najmah obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Northumbria in England in June 2016 after transferring from INTI University in Malaysia. She undertook her post–graduate training at the Kenya School of Law in 2018 and is currently waiting to be admitted to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Antony is an associate in the Firm.

Antony is a graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2016. He undertook his post–graduate training at the Kenya School of Law in 2018 and is currently waiting to be admitted to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Janira is an associate in the Firm.

Janira obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 2017. She undertook her pupillage at Akoto and Akoto Company Advocates from January 2019 to November 2019. She joined MWC Legal in November 2019 as an associate in the Firm. 

Janira was admitted to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in February 2020. She is currently pursuing studies to become a Certified Public Secretary.

Areas of Practice

Janira has advised and acted for clients in dispute resolution, employment law matters, commercial and contractual dispute, debt recovery, corporate commercial advice-including preparing and reviewing commercial contracts, assisting in mergers and acquisitions, conducting due diligence – as well as in real estate and conveyancing matters where she has negotiated and prepared the requisite documentation.

Janira is fluent in English and Kiswahili.
