James is an Advocate of the High Court, a Certified Public Secretary (CS), a Certified Professional Mediator (CPM-MTI) and a registered Patent Agent with the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI). In 2017 and 2018, James was ranked as a Next Generation Lawyer in dispute resolution by The Legal 500, a leading international research, ranking and publishing firm based in the UK. This recognition ranked James as a leading dispute resolution practitioner in Kenya.
Currently, James’ practice focuses on commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation. James has an array of experience litigating a wide variety of complex and multi-faceted disputes across the country for individual clients, high net worth individuals and leading corporates before the Energy Tribunal, Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA), the High Court, Environmental & Land Court, the Employment and Labour Relations Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
He is uniquely qualified in assisting clients navigate land and environment disputes, constitutional disputes, contract/commercial law disputes, energy and natural resource disputes, employment law disputes/matters, white collar crime and fraud investigations, anti-trust/cartel/competition investigations internal investigations, compliance advice, complex criminal and succession matters. James is published columnist in Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s (PCEA) quarterly magazine, The Way. He also writes regularly in MWC’s magazine, Legal Fix.
James is also a Director in Nanga Registrars LLP, MWC Legal’s, a company secretarial practice affiliated to MWC Legal. In his free time, James enjoys socialising, traveling, reading, camping, hiking and singing bass.
